Fletchspeak will live on?!

Yesterday another fabulous moment happened in my very privileged life - my first grandson arrived.
Kiaora Luca James Fletcher.

So it seems the Fletch lineage lives on - and this one is a redhead in the making - so look out future world!
It is certainly a special experience being a Grandparent - not too much active responsibility but the knowing you can have some impact on the future by passing on some traits and wisdom is a treasure.
Well done Claire who endured a tough 12 hr labour - as I discussed with Jamie ( the proud Dad) it is times like these we sure do appreciate being a male - the woman's amazing role in childbirth is certainly to be admired.
I am to meet my new Grandson this afternoon. I hope he will be excited as I am ...hmm? Never the less I am sure we will have a great friendship in the years to come - we have lots to learn from each other. That's the exciting aspect - you learn to see through new windows via your grandchildren - they keep you in touch with what is really important about life - making the most of the magical experience at that moment in time. My two beautiful Grandaughters - Georgie( 3 1/2) and Tilly ( 2) certainly help to keep my feet on the ground and to see the clarity of how simple and exciting life can be. If I am smart enough maybe I can transfer this recipe into my interactions with the many adults in my life - now there's a wow factor!

Hell Day

I had a great day today. The local cluster school's cross country was held and it is certainly humbling seeing the 5 yr olds giving it their best - no fear and all grit. I know a number of adults (even under 40) who would not attempt such a challenge. What happens to people as they grow up? If we all had the same drive &' hell for it 'attitude as these littlees then many of us would easily achieve the goals we often dream about.
Another impact today was visiting my new school and interacting with the people I will be leading in the future. I an excited to be with vibrant people and today I had that buzz again - thanks Nat & Cara. But I suppose my recent weekend probably made me more susceptible in engaging these two hell girls - it will be a roller coaster ride next year but bring it on. I feel 40 again - or should I say just like a 5 yr old. There is a message in here - do you get it ? My penny has dropped.......

Weekend wonderment

Greetings all - well I have finally got my fingers to the task and I am about to set up my first blog.
I have just had a truly amazing weekend in collaboration with a group of inspiring Principal colleagues. My mindset has been stretched, adjusted and reformed about what really matters in what we take on as school leaders. The bottom line that I hooked onto was the importance of relationships, shared direction and honesty ( not only with myself but with others) Having the opportunity to focus on the core matters was certainly refreshing and I feel invigorated in taking on the myriad of challenges ahead. It was good to look in the mirror and share the view out the window of possibilities.
Kapai team!
